Games:
# How Well Do You Know Baby?: Ask party guests to try to match the pictures and mementos on the wall to specific dates. Do the same with your baby's milestones. Find out, for example, if they know when she took her first step or first started eating solid foods. Ask trivia questions about your baby, such as, "How much did she weigh at birth?" "What's her middle name?" "Who was she named after?" "What time was she born?" and "Who's her doctor?"
# Baby Can: Many people don't realize how much a baby can—and can't—do by the time her first birthday rolls around. Write a list of tasks your baby can do, such as "Touch her nose," “Pat her belly” and "Turn on the TV." Add to the list some things she can't do yet: "Brush her teeth," "Say the alphabet" and "Eat a carrot," for example. Have party guests try to guess skills your baby has mastered.
Activities:
# Baby's Birthday Time Capsule: Have everyone bring something that represents an important moment or significant relationship in your baby's life, such as a picture of a relative, a poem about her first step, a small toy she no longer plays with or a memory written down on paper. Seal the items in a container. Then set the container in a closet, bury it in the backyard or place it in a safe deposit box—to be opened when your baby is 21!
# Baby's Memory Book: Another idea is to invite all of your party guests to write a memory of your baby's first year, or a blessing for the baby. Take a picture of each guest at the party with your child, and combine the words and photos to create a simple but memorable birthday present - a baby scrapbook!
